The Brief
Industrial-automation R&D projects needed rigorous freedom-to-operate and invalidity analysis to de-risk investment, paired with genuine customer insight to keep IP strategy grounded in real technology needs.
Approach
- Conducted comprehensive patent searches — novelty, freedom-to-operate, landscape, invalidity, and technology forecasting — in direct coordination with the Chief IP Counsel and CTO office.
- Performed inventor interviews, in-licensing support, product teardowns, and reverse-engineering projects in support of IP enforcement.
- Conducted voice-of-customer interviews and technology-landscape analyses that fed IP strategy and monetisation decisions for industrial-automation R&D projects.
Outcome & Business KPIs
- Built a full-spectrum patent search practice — the technical foundation for every IP role that followed.
- Delivered enforcement-ready reverse-engineering and teardown analysis for the CTO office.
- Established a repeatable voice-of-customer-to-IP-strategy pipeline early in career.
