The Brief
Cyient's aerospace and heavy-engineering clients needed technology-transfer instruments — cross-licenses, joint ventures, sponsored research — negotiated and executed correctly across jurisdictions, alongside a delivery organisation fluent in both Agile practice and industrial compliance regimes.
Approach
- Negotiated and executed high-value IP agreements: a Cross-License with Aurora/Boeing, an Option Agreement with Westinghouse Electric, a Joint Venture with United Technologies/Pratt & Whitney, and a Sponsored Research Agreement with LV Prasad Eye Research Institute.
- Conducted technology forecasting and competitive patent-landscape studies for Industrial IoT, Smart Grid, Smart City, and Automated Demand Response programmes.
- Acted as innovation-focused product owner for GE, Siemens, and UTC, collaborating with Scrum Masters to maintain delivery transparency; applied Gemba, Six Sigma, and Kaizen to ground features in real operational data.
- Co-ordinated with legal and compliance teams on MISRA C++, the NIST Cybersecurity Framework, ISO 27001, and CIS Controls.
- Trained thousands of engineers on Design Thinking, TRIZ, and Lean Six Sigma — building innovation capability at scale across the delivery organisation.
Outcome & Business KPIs
- Executed 8+ major international IP and technology-transfer agreements across aerospace, energy, and med-tech partners.
- Delivered technology-forecasting programmes that shaped IoT, Smart Grid, and Smart City patent strategy for OEM clients.
- Trained thousands of engineers in innovation methodology, building durable internal capability beyond any single programme.
